Get Hired With TIE: A New Course Designed for How Recruiting Really Works Today
To respond to that shift, TIE developed a new professional development course, hosted through our sister organization, the Principals’ Training Center. International School Job Search: Get Hired is an asynchronous, self-paced course that will give you the tools, materials, and strategy to support you in your process this year.
How TIE Helps Candidates Stand Out
In a competitive international recruiting market, resumes and interviews only tell part of the story. TIE's evidence-based portfolio gives educators a way to show, not just describe what they bring to the classroom. Instead of leading with years of experience or job titles, teachers can document real classroom outcomes: growth in student achievement, examples of curriculum design, feedback from students and colleagues, and other concrete markers of effective teaching.
In a crowded field of applicants who all describe themselves as passionate and dedicated, the shift from claims to evidence gives candidates a way to demonstrate what those qualities look like in practice. When many candidates describe themselves in similar terms, concrete evidence gives hiring committees something more meaningful to evaluate. The portfolio link is shareable beyond TIE, so educators can send it directly to hiring committees, recruiters, or school leaders anywhere in the process. And because identifying the right evidence isn't always intuitive, our new course walks educators through exactly how to select and present the material that best reflects their impact, turning years of good work into a portfolio that actually gets noticed.
Inside the Course
The course is self-paced and asynchronous, meaning you can progress through it at your own speed, whether you are just beginning to consider a move or are already engaged in an active search. It’s built to meet you where you are, whether you haven’t started yet and need a plan or you’re mid-search and need to sharpen what you already have. You have access to the course for a full year, supporting you no matter where you are in your process.
What Better-Prepared Candidates Mean for Schools
The same survey data that informed this course also highlights challenges for schools. Respondents described submitting applications without knowing what schools were prioritizing, how many candidates they were competing against, or why they were not selected. Many also felt that screening processes filtered out strong candidates before their experience and impact could be understood. As one respondent put it, “Schools expect a lot from candidates and set a low bar for themselves.”
The Get Hired course is designed to prepare candidates for a more strategic job search, and that preparation benefits schools, too. Schools that recruit with TIE can connect with candidates who are better prepared for the recruitment cycle, with clear priorities, evidence of their impact, and a stronger understanding of how to communicate their experience. That means less time spent decoding applications and more opportunity to evaluate candidates who can clearly articulate their fit and demonstrate what they bring to a school.
Schools can also strengthen their side of the process through the Principals’ Training Center’s Leading Recruitment in International Schools, a course based on the TIE/PTC Talent Recruitment Framework, offered during the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year. The two courses approach recruitment from opposite sides: Get Hired prepares educators to present themselves effectively, while Leading Recruitment in International Schools helps schools strengthen how they identify and evaluate candidates.
Together, the courses draw on more than 40 years of combined TIE and PTC experience in job seeking and recruitment to help schools and educators find each other more effectively in an increasingly complex market.
More Resources From TIE for Your Job Search
International Job Search: Get Hired is one of several resources that TIE has created to help educators through the recruiting season. You can revisit the Will You Stay or Will You Go? series from TIE for last school year as it takes the key stages of the recruitment cycle through the year, from initial reflection and planning to decision-making and transition, with practical tips and reflection prompts for each stage. It dovetails nicely with the new course: the series helps you think through whether and when to move, and the course helps you execute once you decide to search.
The complete survey report and accompanying podcast conversations with recruiting experts are both part of TIE’s Job Seeking collection. It’s worth bookmarking and returning to throughout the season.
Get Started Now
Recruiting and job seeking have changed. The successful candidates in this cycle will be those who conduct their searches with strategy. Those who can show their impact, not simply describe it. International Job Search: Get Hired was created to help you do just that, at your own pace, module by module.
