In Doha, Guitars Galore

The AS Doha guitar club, ready for all comers and all genres (photos: ASD).

The Grade 7 commons has taken on a groovy vibe at the American School of Doha (ASD), Qatar. Following the success of the after-school guitar club, the PTA agreed to fund the purchase of three guitars and stands, which are always available in the commons for students and teachers to play. Students can now simply pick up a guitar and strum away, and teachers lend a hand with the basic chords. Every class has a few guitar heroes who love to strut their stuff and they teach the other students as well.

After three months, the only damage has been one broken string. The students have shown real respect for the instruments, and it has been a great success. Think about purchasing some guitars, and getting your own students strumming!
