Guidelines for Consultants and Paid Services, Organizations, and Products

Updated Guidelines: 2025

Thank you for your interest in contributing to The International Educator (TIE). TIE is committed to providing valuable, free resources for international school educators. To maintain our focus as a resource for and by international educators, all articles submitted by consultants must be co-authored by someone who currently holds a position in an international school. Exceptions may apply for consultants who have been contacted directly by the Editorial Committee to address a specific need within the international school community.

To ensure that the content we publish aligns with our mission and serves the needs of our readers, please carefully review the following submission guidelines.

1. Focus on Key Learnings and Insights

  • Is the focus on key learnings? We aim to share practical insights and valuable lessons that international educators can directly apply in their classrooms or educational settings. Your submission should prioritize important educational topics and key takeaways that benefit our readers. Please focus on the educational value, not promotional material.

  • Readers should be able to come away with actionable ideas, tools, or discussion points that they can implement without needing to use or purchase a paid service. The goal is to provide valuable, practical insights that help educators grow in their practice and make meaningful improvements in their classrooms or schools, all while keeping the content free and accessible.

2. Ethical Use of References

  • If you discuss products, services, or organizations that charge for their offerings, the content must primarily serve an educational purpose. You may refer to these entities only to support or illustrate your ideas, processes, or learnings. The educational value should be the clear focus, and the content should not be an advertisement or promotional piece.

  • Direct mentions of products, services, or organizations may appear in your author bio but should not be embedded within the article content itself unless relevant to the educational discussion and presented in a non-promotional way. For example, if you reference a consulting service or product, it must be in the context of how it supports your educational approach, not as an endorsement or advertisement.

  • Exceptions: If any resources, goods, or services are free for international educators, they may be directly mentioned and linked within the article. Please indicate that these resources are available at no cost to educators.

3. Why is this Topic Important for International School Educators?

  • Your submission should explicitly answer why the topic is relevant for international school educators. International educators face unique challenges, and we want to ensure that the resources we provide are directly applicable to their professional needs.

  • Be sure to provide specific examples from your experience working with international schools. Illustrate your points with real-world examples, case studies, or practical tips that international educators can relate to and learn from. The content should resonate with the diverse needs of international schools, from curriculum implementation to global teaching strategies.
