Lincoln School in Kathmandu, Nepal, recently opened its gates to host a unique academic event. A college fair featuring educational institutions from the United States brought together over 200 high school students from Kathmandu. They were able to meet the representatives of 30 prestigious colleges and universities in the USA, and to discuss their expectations and options for post-secondary education.
According to Bernie Lenou, College Counselor at the Lincoln School, “Bringing the Council of International Schools Colleges Tour to Nepal has been deeply rewarding. This is another acknowledgement of our school’s reputation and high quality educational standards”.
As Phil Clinton, Lincoln School’s current Director, remarked, “It’s a real pleasure to see young people looking at options for their future. Lincoln School’s graduates are well-prepared for the challenges of the best colleges and universities in the USA and Canada.
The College Fair that took place at Lincoln School’s gymnasium started with an information session, followed by an arena-style fair that allowed students to have time with many different college representatives.
Throughout the afternoon, several hundered students collected insight, answers and advice regarding their future academic careers.
The institutions represented included, among others, Brandeis University; Carleton College; Connecticut College; DePauw University; Drake University; Franklin & Marshall College; Ithaca College; Manhattanville College; Michigan State University; Montana State University; Northeastern University; Northwestern University; Pennsylvania State University; Richmond/The American International University in London; Smith College; St. Olaf College; SUNY Brockport; SUNY Plattsburgh; Tufts University; University of California-Davis; University of California-Irvine; University of Rochester; University of Virginia; Vassar College.
Mr. Clinton stated at the closing of the event “Today’s meeting between good students and exceptional colleges and universities, makes me proud. Lincoln School is a relatively small school but we have a strong and competitive program.”
