Graded Superintendent Richard Boerner is this year’s recipient of the AMISA (American International Schools in the Americas) International Education Leadership Award. The award, established in 2006, is conferred annually by AMISA to one individual who has contributed significantly to both international education and AMISA.
AMISA Executive Director Dereck Rhoads presented the award to Superintendent Boerner at the organization’s annual business meeting, citing his impactful leadership and generosity of spirit and time.
"You have rolled up your sleeves and found ways to help keep us all learning,” Dr. Rhoads said to Mr. Boerner. “You have shared resources that have impacted students and adults throughout the world, not only in our region. Your Think Tank and resulting work around the Science of Learning is a shining example of the type of collaborative and inspiring leadership we seek to celebrate.”
Dr. Rhoads also commended Mr. Boerner for his collegiality, noting the development and sharing of school resources and action plans such as Eagles Reunite: Graded’s Reopening Plan and the school’s COVID-19 health, safety, and testing protocols.
In response to the announcement, Graded Board President Alex Malfitani expressed, "Having had the privilege of working closely with Richard for the past year, I have witnessed firsthand his dedication to our children’s education. This is also a recognition of Graded among American schools in the region. Please join me in congratulating Richard and Graded for this award!"
