The British School of Warsaw—an IB Open World School

By Megan Munsell
28-Jan-14

Nord Anglia Education is delighted to announce that the British School of Warsaw has been granted Open World School status by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). IB Open World Schools are at the forefront of increasing access to the IB Diploma Program, using innovative online and blended pedagogies to reach students worldwide. In addition to supporting their own IB students, Open World Schools are authorized to support non-IB students who may wish to enroll in individual IBDP courses online. The courses are designed for academically motivated students, aged 16-19.
The British School of Warsaw was awarded Open World School status in recognition of its leadership role in extending the range of IB course options available to students at Nord Anglia Education’s 27 schools, and its broader commitment to increasing access to the IB curriculum worldwide. “We are offering these online distance learning options alongside our more conventional offerings, in order to make available to our students the most comprehensive range of subject options possible,” said Professor Deborah Eyre, Education Director.
The online courses offered by the British School of Warsaw have been developed by Pamoja Education, an Oxford-based social enterprise, in close collaboration with the IBO. Students are taught by experienced IB teachers, in a highly interactive, international environment. Students are enrolled from 280 IB schools in 60 countries and Pamoja Education is committed to working closely with Nord Anglia Education to provide optimal support for this new initiative. Pamoja Education is the sole IB-approved provider of online instruction for the IBDP.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to extend the choices of courses available for IB Diploma students across the world, and it is a real honor to be part of this exciting new initiative,” said Dr. Terry Creissen, Principal. “We are really pleased to be able to support students across the Nord Anglia Education family of schools though online programs, and we are very grateful for the close collaboration and support provided by the IBO and Pamoja Education.”
