Exploring Instructional Coaching Roles

In this series, the Association for the Advancement of Instructional Coaching in International Schools (AAICIS) explores the role of instructional coaching in international schools through survey data and focus group insights. Participants consistently point to the importance of a clear vision aligned with school strategy, meaningful evidence of impact, strong collaboration between coaches and leaders, and dedicated time for coaching. The article highlights practical ways schools can strengthen coaching programs, including embedding coaching into schedules, protecting collaborative planning time, and ensuring coaching is recognized as a core component of professional growth rather than an additional responsibility.
