For over 30 years international school leaders, teachers, and counselors have come together for PTC professional learning experiences. Each day of every program begins with a “pearl of wisdom,” a “nugget of knowledge,” or a “gem of inspiration” from one of the participants. We are delighted to offer our readers around the world these powerful stories, insights, and strategies, all dedicated to our shared mission of ever more and better learning for our children.
In this Pearl, Megan shares the importance of pushing forward with meaningful changes even when they’re met with resistance. Reflecting on her experience launching a "mini middle school" program to better prepare fifth graders for the transition to secondary school, she walks through how careful listening, collaboration, and persistence led to real impact. Despite initial pushback from colleagues concerned about scheduling, grading, and logistics, Megan prioritized student needs and helped her team reimagine what was possible. Her key takeaway is a call to action for educators to “keep making changes, even if everyone can find a reason not to.”
