Deborah Welch Appointed as AISH CEO

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of the Academy for International School Heads (AISH) I am pleased to announce that Deb Welch has been offered and accepted the offer to be the next CEO of AISH. The process took months and we had a strong slate of candidates. Our sincere thanks and gratitude to finalist Chris Bowman. He is a phenomenal leader and role model to us all.
Deb is currently the Director of the American School of Doha. Before Doha she served as an educational consultant visiting countless schools around the world. She also was the Deputy Head and Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Professional Development at International School of Bangkok from 1997-2006. Deb spent many years working in Colorado in various leadership positions. Deb has also served as Director of the Teacher Trainer Center (TTC). Deb will combine her many skills and accomplishments to take AISH from strength to strength.
Deb will begin her tenure in July and will attend the 2015 AISH Summer Seminar. Please visit the AISH website to see how you can join us in Beverly, MA at Endicott College to meet our new CEO and participate in our signature event.
And, of course, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bambi Betts for her 9 amazing years of service to AISH. Those of you who attended the AISH Oasis Day and AAIE Conference in San Francisco saw Bambi’s colleagues rise to their feet to applaud her accomplishments.
Thanks again to the CEO Search Committee and the Board for your support, advice, and encouragement throughout the process.
As I prepare to leave international education after 40 years and the AISH Presidency in July, rest assured that I will continue to be a champion for AISH and international education as I begin my new adventure in Hawaii.
All the best,
Robert Landau
President, AISH Board
