ACS is proud to announce Emily Sargent-Beasley as its next President, effective summer 2022. Since 2016 she has served as Head of Pudong Campus of the Shanghai American School, the longest standing international school in China. Previously she held a six-year tenure at Walworth Barbour American International School in Tel Aviv, Israel, serving respectively as Middle School Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning and Assistant Superintendent. The child of international educators, she grew up attending schools in Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia and India, followed by a professional career in India, Israel and China. As an experienced school administrator, Emily has successfully tackled wide-ranging changes, opportunities and challenges, from strategic plan implementation and accreditation processes to campus expansions, curriculum re-design and health crisis management during the current pandemic. She holds a B.A in Geography from George Mason University, an M.A in Education from James Madison University, a PhD in Literacy from the Curry School of Education at University of Virginia, and is a current Doctoral candidate in International Leadership at the University of San Diego.
