For over 30 years international school leaders, teachers, and counselors have come together for PTC professional learning experiences. Each day of every program begins with a “pearl of wisdom,” a “nugget of knowledge,” or a “gem of inspiration” from one of the participants. We are delighted to offer our readers around the world these powerful stories, insights, and strategies, all dedicated to our shared mission of ever more and better learning for our children.
In this Pearl, Neelu reflects on her three decades of learning, highlighting the importance of tapping into personal strength during challenging times. She recalls her first year at the school, which was filled with uncertainty as she navigated a new role, a new team, and the challenges of a global pandemic. Despite the initial struggles, she found comfort in the power of the word "yet"—reminding herself that connections, growth, and success take time. She encourages us when facing difficult change to be kind to yourself and remember that your time hasn’t come yet, but it will.
Professional positions cited were the ones held at the time of recording. The positions and schools of those quoted may have since changed.
Neelu Kalro is the Deputy Principal of Jalaram Bapa Children's Nook (JBCN) International school in India.
