For over 30 years international school leaders, teachers, and counselors have come together for PTC professional learning experiences. Each day of every program begins with a 'pearl of wisdom,' a 'nugget of knowledge,' or a 'gem of inspiration' from one of the participants. We are delighted to offer our readers around the world these powerful stories, insights, and strategies, all dedicated to our shared mission of ever more and better learning for our children.

In this Pearl, Alexandra asks us to take time to participate in a short reflection activity, looking back on experiences of feeling concerned, alone, or misunderstood in school. What would you like to say to yourself? What would you like your younger self to hear? This reflection activity offers insight into what we can say and do to help our students who may be experiencing similar feelings. It can be overwhelming. She encourages us to use simple things, a moment, a line, a look, or even just being there. Simple moments can have a great impact on our students’ wellbeing.
