Calling all Donors!

By Cynthia Nagrath
01-Jun-11

In the months following the 11 March disaster, international schools in Japan have made generous donations through novel and extensive fundraising. Leading the charge is the Tohoku International School (TIS) in Sendai, the epicenter of the earthquake. TIS has created a scholarship fund, dedicated to families in Sendai, on its home page (http://www.tisweb.net).
At the Nishimachi International School (NIS), students demonstrated their creative side by making 800 paper cranes for Paper Cranes for Japan. This simple gesture will help trigger a US$200,000 donation from the Bezos Family Foundation. The American School in Japan (ASIJ) has set up a relief fund, and the ASIJ community has also served up over 1,100 hot meals to those in need. And at Saint Maur International School, students constructed a 40-meter “moneytube”—see the accompanying article.
To make donations to any of these school funds, please visit their websites—and give today.
