ACS Doha and Al Jaber Group to Build a 2,470-Student Campus in Qatar

ACS Doha, one of Qatar’s leading international schools, has announced a partnership with Al Jaber Group to build a brand new, state-of-the-art student campus in Doha. The new school will have a capacity of 2,470 students and will open in August 2020. Ajay Sharma, British Ambassador to the State of Qatar, was present to witness the official signing of the partnership at a special ceremony at Four Seasons Hotel in Doha. Tim Cagney, Chief Executive of ACS International Schools, and Mohammed Sultan Al Jaber, Chairman of Al Jaber Group, acted as signatories for the partnership agreement. Following a series of highly successful meetings with Mohammed Sultan Al Jaber, a 60,000-square-meter site, which is over five times the size of ACS Doha’s present campus, has been secured in Al Kheesa. Construction on the site has begun and is progressing quickly. ACS Doha is collaborating closely with Mace as Development Manager and AECOM as Consulting Engineer. Designed by internationally renowned architects Broadway Malyan, the stunning new campus will enhance the school’s academic and extra-curricular offer, boosting its successful International Baccalaureate Primary and Middle Years Diploma, and U.S. High School Diploma programs. Ajay Sharma, British Ambassador to the State of Qatar, said, “I am delighted to be here today to see ACS, with its successful 50-plus year history in international education in the U.K., partner with Al Jaber Group, a leading Qatar organisation, to extend its forward-thinking and dynamic international education in the State of Qatar with this new school. I wish them every success.” Tim Cagney commented: “ACS Doha is committed to making a significant contribution to the growth of Qatar. We are honored that this expansion resonates strongly with the human development goals of Qatar’s 2030 National Vision, and our own goal to make an ACS education available to more students around the world. ACS Doha is deeply dedicated to creating a legacy in Qatar. After more than 50 years in education in the U.K. and Qatar, the new campus will enhance our strong international reputation, ensuring that we continue to attract the very best teachers and educational leaders from around the world and that our students can fulfil their potential in an environment that will prepare them to be ready for the future. We are delighted to be working with Al Jaber Construction Group on this important project.” The new campus will be just 10 kilometres (or a 15-minute drive) from ACS Doha’s current Al Gharrafa campus. In addition, the new campus will benefit from a metro stop that will be built close by as part of Doha’s growing public transport network. It will also provide an opportunity for ACS Doha to serve the educational needs of a significant number of growing neighborhoods, including Lusail, the Pearl, and Um Salal. Mohammed Sultan Al Jaber commented: “The new ACS Doha campus is a positive development for ACS, and for education in Doha. The new state-of-the-art campus will benefit the entire school community and I am proud to partner with ACS in delivering this exciting new development as part of its long-term vision for Qatar.” Since opening in 2011, ACS Doha has experienced rapid enrolment growth. The new campus will help meet future demand for school places and supports Qatar’s goal to become a top-tier employment destination for experienced teaching and administrative staff. Robert Cody, Head of School at ACS Doha, added: “The new campus facilities will empower our outstanding teachers to develop greater learning opportunities for students, both inside and outside of the classroom. Our fantastic new campus will ensure that we can best prepare students in Doha for unrivalled academic success. This will be the key to helping them gain entry to some of the best colleges and universities around the world.” The meticulously-planned campus has been designed to deliver an exceptional learning environment for both students and faculty, with specific attention given to creating spaces that drive academic rigor and extra-curricular programs both in and outside the classroom. Over the last seven years, ACS Doha has distinguished itself by delivering a rigorous academic education that respects the diversity of its international student body, and the individuality of learning styles. The development of its new campus will allow ACS Doha to strengthen key partnerships with important external stakeholders, including government bodies, universities, corporate institutions, prospective staff, and families. It is also a demonstration of ACS Doha’s long-term commitment to Qatar. Buoyed by the support of the ACS community and empowered by its local and global network, ACS Doha is now well-positioned to further boost the quality of education in Qatar.
