Vincent Ferrandino left his position as Senior Education Advisor at the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this summer. Dr. Ferrandino plans to return to the United States and to settle in Naples, Florida.
Dr. Ferrandino is well-known and widely respected in the international school network. His professional experience spans over four decades, in both the public and private educational sectors, and at the school, school district, university, state education department, regional, national, and international levels. Dr. Ferrandino has held executive leadership positions at all of these.
In his former position, Dr. Ferrandino provided professional advice to the ADEC Executive Management Team in areas including policy, planning, organizational structure, school operations, curriculum, and assessment as they relate to the major reform of K-12 education in the Abu Dhabi region’s state and private schools.
Prior to joining ADEC, Dr. Ferrandino was Executive Vice President of Mosaica Education, Inc., in Washington, D.C., where he led and supported Mosaica’s strategic initiatives in the Middle East and other international markets. He also served as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Education in the United Arab Emirates, where he helped to develop the vision, and plan for the major reform, of the Emirati K-12 school system.
Other key positions held by Dr. Ferrandino include Executive Director of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), based in Virginia, USA; Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), based in Massachusetts, USA; and Commissioner of Education in the American state of Connecticut.
He also served as the Superintendent of Schools in two different Connecticut school districts, a high school principal, a department chairman and a teacher in New York and Connecticut.
Dr. Ferrandino was also Chair of the Board of Governors for the U.S. Department of Education Office of Educational Research and Improvement Regional Laboratories at Brown University; President of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE); President of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC); and a member of the International Sounding Board for the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai, UAE, in addition to other memberships and educational leadership positions.
Dr. Ferrandino obtained his doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in educational leadership and public management in 1984, and a master’s degree in 1975, from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1972 from Amherst College, Massachusetts.
